Cafe Lago Handicap

Wangaratta Cycling Club race on the 27th May was the Cafe Lago Wangaratta to
Benalla Handicap. 54 senior competitors faced the starter with a generous
limit mark leaving the fast finishing scratch bunch to settle for fastest
time honours having never bridged the gap. The race broke into 4 main
groups by the time it finished with the winning bunch consisting of riders
from the 25 and 28 minute marks covering the distance in 2.02.17. The front
markers from the 40 minute group had been swamped at about the 56km mark in
the race. Fastest time went to the scratch bunch covering the 70km distance
in 1.44.31.
